I love going to work and seeing the flowers and bugs. Today I saw hummingbird sized moths enjoying the datura blossoms. I also brought home some sunflowers. William and I rearranged the furniture, I'll post pictures soon. He has been doing a lot of things lately.. we are going to create lots of interesting things.

My friend Jamie saw this, he said "It looks like she has got the desert, in the moonlight, in her eyes." I can kind see that.

My package from Minori came in today! I'm so pleased.
Minori was my best friend while I lived in Japan.
We're still best friends, of course! We email eachother often and send Christmas/Birthday gifts.
I hope she can visit me someday soon!

Anywho,
I was sitting around, and I suddenly thought
"Oh, I'm expecting a package! I wonder if it'll come soon?"
and then, about an hour later it arrived in the mail!

I'll take you through little tour of what Minori sent me.

Everything came inside of a Tokyo Disney Resort bag!
Minnie is on one side, Mickey is on the other.
Mickey and Minnie are Minori's favorite characters!
I think she likes Minnie the most, though.

Here are two cards she sent.
On the left is a Christmas card, and on the right is a New Years card!
She knows I like Hello Kitty, so she uses this stationary often.
I think she likes Hello Kitty a lot too.
What Japanese girl doesn't?

Here's the open Christmas card.
There are many cute messages from Hello Kitty, as well as a brief message from Minori.

She also wrote me a personal letter, talking about her excitement about starting college in April.
She'll be moving to Tokyo by herself! It's exciting, but also scary.
She also included many treats. Yum!
There are milk chocolates, white chocolates, and Mickey-shaped osenbe.
I couldn't help myself, I've already eaten some.

This is an album she made for me!
Inside, there are many of our memories together,
as well as new memories she has made since we last saw eachother. <3 She included photos of her dog, friends, highschool class, and the Christmas Girl-Scout meet up she went to. Everything inside is so cute and nice! She put many stickers, pictures, and drawings inside.
She took so much time to make this, it'll be cherished.

Minori got us an "Osoro"! "Osoro" translates into "same" in English.
It's like a "Best Friend's" necklace, only with toys and charms.
This is "Duffy" the bear of luck and happiness.
Apparently, Minnie gave Mickey Duffy when he was going on a journey in a boat.
You can only buy Duffy at Tokyo Disney Land.
He's so cute! I'm really happy with my "Osoro"!

I love my package! All of this made my day so good!
I'm really pleased! I'm excited for the next holiday, so I can send her more gifts.

I've been watching loads of Hayao Miyazaki films.
I just recently saw Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, Porko Rosso, and My Neighbor Totoro for the first time.

Totoro wasn't great, but it was cute and an easy watch. Ponyo and Porko were FABULOUS, though. Ponyo was adorable and Porko was very good. I loved the characters in both of them.
I also re-watched The Cat Returns, which is my favorite. So good. I highly recommend it.

Things have been slow lately.
I got three commissions, so that's awesome!
I really need to finish the second one, it's a little taxing though.
The third is one of my felt background pieces!

I went and bought thread today for that.

When I design Eki's clothes, I just take the most impractical stuff, mixed with a lot of skimpyness, mash it into the color pink, and viola!

I like drawing her because her clothes are interesting.

This is Eki's sister.
I like designing clothes for her too.
She's much more reserved. I like her personality a little more.

I think Ekilalia would be a little dumb.

I've been drawing her a lot because I have the perfect blue now!

My sleeping schedule is completely backwards.
OH welleh.

Today I watched "Perfect Blue" and "Eyes Wide Shut".
Both were fucked. I liked them.

I also made dinner tonight.
It was pasta (alfredo for Mik, red sauce for me)
with a bit of sausage, onion, garlic, granny smith apple, and shitake mushroom mixed into the sauces.
On the side there was sweet potato mashed potatoes, and a little bit of salad.
Yum. Also, bread. LULZ. I'm a fatty. It was good.

I feel a little congested.

I had a really awesome Thanksgiving.
I forgot to mention that before.
I got to have Thanksgiving with my brother and his partner Ron.
Mike, Joy, and Sean also came.
It was fun and relaxing, and of course the food was awesome.
I only wish I had 4 stomachs.

I'm going to post some older shit because I haven't been drawing much.

My sketchbooks tend to be really messy.
I color with markers and don't think about the consequence of them leaking onto other pages.

I have to make a serious, conscious effort to keep my art tidy.
I swear I'm retarded.

Good thing I'm not obsessive.
The look of the messy drawings doesn't really bother me.

Urgh.
I haven't posted in ages, and I'm still reluctant to scan.
I really need a job and I'm stressed a lot of the time.

Thankfully, Mike is here to support me.
As well as Sean and Joy, who are great helps.
I'm really pleased to be here, in Washington, with these wonderful people.

I just need to get back on track.
Here we go..

Digital color of my character Yumi.
Here are the original inks.

That little fluffy thing is a blob-pet that Sean and I came up with.
It's a mass of fur that makes no noise, doesn't move, and is just warm and soft.
That's all.
You can put googly eyes on it, and ohhu, it feels the burn.

The perfect pet!

Hello, world.

Mike and I were reading about Jack the Ripper this morning,
as well as looking up photographs of his victims.
There's a very high resolution copy of an image of his final victim,
where organs and bits of flesh are strewn about randomly.
The resolution is so high, you can see the cuts in her face.
It's hauntingly creepy.

Mike is outside with Sean working on his car,
hopefully we'll get it running soon.
We don't need the extra stress just before we move.

Flip-floppy post today.

I've been able to spot where I get a lot of my stylization from as an artist.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was seriously my favorite movie when I was 12 or 13.

I recommend this film. It's so good, so well animated.. everything. It's just awesome!
Anywho, as I was saying, I really took a lot of inspiration from this film.
The way the hair, eyes, clothes, etc. are drawn.. Yeah.
A friend mentioned once that he thought my style looked a lot like this style as well.
I was really pleased by that.
Watch this movie!

Another good one is Paprika, which should also be watched by everyone.
So, so good..

I like the markers, though.
I wanted to draw a woman with a defined nose.
I'm pleased.
I also decided to be experimental with the colors.

Mike's birthday is on Saturday.
How exciting!

I really need some new markers.
I don't have a lot of money right now,
but when I do, I could get something like this.
Primary/Secondary Colors, Set of 12 should do the trick.
My dream is the 156 set.

I was eyeing this striped, black and white, long-sleeve T-shirt at Rue-21 once,
and I knew I didn't have the money to buy it,
but oh god, did I want it.
I bit my lip, swallowed my pride, and walked away from it.
When I got home, Mike pulled a Rue 21 bag out of the truck.
I hadn't noticed his trick!

This girl is small. She fits into the palm of my hand.
Nice colors, cute hair, horrendously stylized anatomy.

I know there aren't any clock bits or goggles,
but I feel the overly-sepia sepia toned maddness is just too much.
It can't be sepia without being steampunk! Augh!
Of course, someone who added it to their list of favorite drawings on DeviantART,
had a million steam-punk style photos favorited as well.
Damn. I hate being right.

Good morning.
I haven't been able to sleep lately.
I've been taking many short naps,
so I just feel tired all the time.
I can't wait until I sleep through the entire night,
a full 7 or 8 hours.

I did have a nice dream during my nap, though.
My friend Minori and I were together.
She had been very busy studying,
so we made reserved time to hang out together.
Her English was good, but my Japanese was nonexistent.
That's no good. I should be the one studying..

Anyway, let's get to the heart of the matter.
I have lots of new stuff for you to see today!
90% of this has never been scanned before, so be excited.
Try to stick through the whole post, and look at all the images!

So, let's get started!

This is how these three sit on paper, next to one another. My style isn't very realistic.
I don't think about proper anatomy or real-to-life coloring until I've already finished.
I guess that doesn't really matter.
The scanner muted these colors just right, in any case.

My character Angel. She's about 3x5 here, maybe a little smaller.
I was drawing a comparison between her and the picture below..

My character Munchousin.
My mentor and second mother, Susan, came up with that name.
It has worked out splendidly, and now it's nearly iconic.
Anyway,
Of course the physical differences between Munchousin and Angel are very apparent.
They're the lead characters in two separate stories I've got half-created..
(Angel's being 'Anonymous' Munchousin's being "Six Stages of Munchousin")
Eh. Who knows what'll happen with all that.

It's hard to be a well-to-do girl,
when you're stuck on the moon.

These two were drawn three months apart from one-another.
I truly am a creature of habit! What a shame, really.
(The one on the top is from June-ish, the one on the bottom was drawn days ago.)

Now, for some FANART...

This is Syl. She belongs to my main-squeeze, Mikhail.
On top is how I drew her in my first go-round. It's okay, but sort of blocky,
and not very true to the character (at that point in the story). So I tried again on the bottom, where I feel she looks more natural. It's also much more canonically sound.
Here's his newest of Syl..

As you can see, she's indeed an orange red-head. She has cotton-candy pink hair in the beginning of the story, however, which is where the scene I drew comes from!
Anyway, Mikhail has a great comic book style. He really inspires me, too!

This one was inspired by two photo's by my friend Kyrstin.

In them, her adorable nose and wonderful wavy hair called to me saying,
"Hey! I'm cute and pretty! Do something with that!"
This drawing is less a portrait, more an 'inspired-by',
because it doesn't really do her justice.

I love the way the hair, face, and stupid little background came out in this. Mmm.

These two are Yukina (left) and Hiei (right) from the show Yu Yu Hakusho.
My lame favorite anime. OH, how I love it.
I was watching the Yukina arch the other day, and it just came to me.
Shhhh.
Their skin looks dull/grey from the scan.
I used grey to shade them, but of course it looks a little better then that in person.

Wow, that movie.

I really want to color this one.
I think nice sepia tones would look good,
but then it might turn out much too steampunk.

I really can't describe how BAD this scan is!
In any case, this is my character Angel,
lounging about in a scummy pond.

It looks really nice in person, the colors are vibrant,
with really delicate lines for the shading.
I spent a while on this one,
I'd say about 2.5/3 hours.
I enjoy the result.

Her breasts especially.. very natural.

The colors look bad, of course.
It's much less blotchy and very smooth in person.
Anywho, Angel again, in another pond.

"Anonymous" is the name of her story.
Mik has been encouraging me to write it.
I'm not sure where to start..

Here's a sketch of Angel.
Really simple, done in about half an hour.
I've been drawing her a lot,
playing with the idea of her story.. hm

Angel isn't the only thing I draw,
just the only thing I have scanned..
Anyway, here's this.
No meaning or point, it just is.
Done in about half an hour as well.

This is actually a revamp of this.
I like the old one better.. more motion.
